Serving Haiti Since 1989

About our ministry

  • Our mission is to change lives, one meal at a time.

  • Our vision is to create a dependable safe haven where individuals are not only fed but also feel valued and protected.

  • The Plate Project, an integral part of the Old Chapel's mission-based ministry, is committed to alleviating hunger and enhancing the wellbeing of children across Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

We operate multiple community kitchens that serve nutritious meals to participants in some of the world's most impoverished areas. Each meal we provide offers more than just sustenance—it brings hope and the reassuring presence of Jesus Christ.

Beyond feeding, the Plate Project is dedicated to protecting and empowering the Haitian community. We strive to equip Haitian families with the tools they need for self-sufficiency and improvement of their own lives.

We aim to empower individuals to build a sustainable future and break the cycle of poverty.

Furthermore, we are committed to fighting against the dehumanizing oppression that plagues these communities, standing firm in our belief that everyone deserves to live with dignity and security.

Our work is inspired by the words of Jesus: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in” (Matthew 25:35, CSB). This teaching compels us to extend our hands in service to those in need, embodying Christ's love through our actions.

You might wonder if one meal can truly change a life. Our founder's life is the prime example that it indeed can. Join us in changing a life one meal at a time.

Our future

  • At the Haiti Project, we are driven by a divine calling to extend our mission across the entire island, reaching as far as the Dominican Republic. Our goal is clear: to change lives, one meal at a time.

  • In partnership with the International Center for Discipleship and Missions (ICDM) based in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, we are taking significant steps towards establishing new channels of aid. Together, we aim to initiate feeding programs for children throughout the region, starting with a new distribution center slated to open by summer 2024.

  • Our efforts are also focused on strengthening our foundation in Haiti itself. We are in the process of acquiring land in Cap-Haïtien to construct our headquarters. This facility will not only serve as the operational heart of our projects but will also be a training ground for future missionaries dedicated to expanding the kingdom of Jesus across the island.

  • The headquarters will be more than just an administrative center; it will be a hub for education and spiritual growth. Here, missionaries will receive the training they need to serve effectively, and local communities will benefit from new educational opportunities.

  • Alongside our missionary activities, we are excited to launch the "GARDEN" initiative. This agricultural project will involve purchasing land suitable for farming, allowing us to grow fresh produce to support our feeding programs. Not only will this help meet immediate nutritional needs, but it will also provide educational opportunities in sustainable agriculture for local communities.

  • Above all, our new headquarters and the initiatives we are launching are about creating a safe space where everyone can find refuge, support, and hope. This space will be a testament to our commitment to nurturing both bodies and souls, ensuring that all who come to us leave feeling loved and filled with hope.

  • As we look to the future, we invite you to join us in this transformative journey. Your support, whether through donations, volunteering, or prayer, is crucial as we expand our reach and deepen our impact. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of many, proving once again that love and community can prevail over adversity and one meal can truly change a life.
